Description

Holistic Essentials' Spice Box (traditionally known as a “Masala Dabba”) is a traditional Indian spice box set made up of one large outer, 7 inner spice pots and a mini-spoon, all made of high quality stainless steel.

The Ayurvedic Spice Box is the perfect way to store the key spices of Ayurvedic cookery and because the spices are “on hand” (rather like an artist’s palette of colours), the Spice Box makes it easy and fun to create fantastic new Indian dishes.

The 7 inner pots are designed to hold the following key spices for healthy Ayurvedic cookery, allowing one to maintain a healthy balance of all 3 Doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha):

 - Turmeric Powder – All Dosha balancing (“Tridoshic”)
 - Cumin Seeds – Vata & Pitta balancing
 - Mustard Seeds – Kapha balancing
 - Coriander Powder – Pitta balancing
 - Chilli Powder – Kapha balancing
 - Garam Masala – All Dosha balancing (“Tridoshic”)
 - Asafoetida Powder (known as “Hing”) – Vata balancing

(Spices Not Included)

Key Ingredients

  • High-Quality Stainless Steel: Crafted from 100% premium stainless steel, this Masala Dabba is designed for durability, longevity, and resistance to corrosion. Its robust construction ensures that your spices are stored securely and hygienically.
  • Seven Inner Spice Pots: Each pot is individually crafted to hold a variety of spices, allowing you to maintain the distinct flavours and aromas essential in Ayurvedic cooking. These pots are designed to fit perfectly within the outer container, keeping your spices organised and fresh.
  • Mini Spoon: The set includes a mini spoon, designed for precise and convenient measuring of spices, ensuring you can easily maintain the balance of flavours in your cooking.

This traditional spice box is an essential tool in Ayurvedic cookery, helping to balance the three Doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—by keeping your most important spices within easy reach.

How to Use

  1. Prepare Your Spices: Begin by selecting your essential spices. Traditional Ayurvedic spices such as turmeric, cumin, coriander, and fennel are great options. Ensure your spices are dry and free from moisture before placing them into the Masala Dabba.
  2. Fill the Spice Pots: Carefully spoon each spice into the individual inner pots, filling them to your preferred level. The mini spoon provided can help with precise measurements.
  3. Arrange the Pots: Once filled, place the individual spice pots into the large outer container. The pots should fit snugly, keeping your spices secure and organized.
  4. Use During Cooking: When preparing your meals, simply open the lid of the Masala Dabba and use the mini spoon to measure out the required amount of spice. This keeps your cooking process efficient and your workspace tidy.
  5. Maintain Freshness: After use, close the lid tightly to keep the spices fresh and aromatic. Store the Masala Dabba in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve the quality of the spices.
  6. Clean Regularly: To clean, remove all spices and wash the outer container and inner pots with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before refilling to prevent moisture from affecting the spices.
